The Festival de Cannes will hold its 80th edition from 11 to 22 May 2027. An anniversary edition typically brings a busier programme of events around the official selection, and with it even more demand for rooms, tables and transport along the Croisette.
Why planning early matters
During the festival, Cannes fills with the film industry, press and guests. Hotels facing the sea, villas in the hills above the town and restaurant reservations in the evenings are usually the first things to go. Many visitors choose to stay a short drive away, in Antibes, Cap d’Antibes or Mougins, and travel in by car.
Getting there
Nice Côte d’Azur is the gateway airport, around 30 to 45 minutes from Cannes by road depending on traffic, and considerably less by helicopter. Cannes-Mandelieu handles business aviation.
Beyond the Palais
Official screenings at the Palais are by invitation and accreditation. For many visitors, the festival fortnight is as much about the atmosphere of the Riviera in late spring: beach clubs, dinners and days on the water.
